Work Title : Sapphire Blue
Page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Introduction: In this tutorial you will see the process of which I painted "Sapphire Blue", because there are too much I could not cover in detail. Therefore it is recommended for people who are already familar with the Program and the basic techniques.

Program: Photoshop 6.0

1

Sketch - First start off with a quick sketch, of my idea, I wanted a sleek elven lady with a sly/evil look. Her features have to be slender fine , yet define, with straight black hair and blue eyes, to go with the Sapphire Blue theme. I roughly depict a moon some clouds ocean and probably part of the ship cause she is meant to me a pirate.

2

Skin tone - Lighten the lines and I could start applying the basic colours on a separate layer, I intend to have the picture set at night , so I thought a bluish tone skin will go with the night light, I shaded some basic shadow and a Blue backlight for the moon behind her.

3

Face - I painted the nose, and starting to sculpt the features of the face and drew in faintly the eyes and lips. Here you see that I change the smile from a closed mouth smile to open mouth smile. snicker.

4

Eyes - To paint the eyes always start with a base colour as in "DETAIL 4A", then shade in the lights and shadows of the pupils, and paint in the lashes with a brush strokes like "DETAIL 4B"
